The Ingredients for the Perfect Wine Wednesday

The Ingredients for the Perfect Wine Wednesday

A few tips to make it pop and keep your friends coming back.

What started as a way to practice talking about wine by inviting three friends over for a tasting has since grown into so much more.

We all look forward to Taco Tuesday and Thirsty Thursday, but if you are ever in the mood for a Wine Wednesday, here are a few tips to make it pop and keep your friends coming back.

THE PERFECT AMBIANCE

Whatever vibe you're going for, let it be reflected in your ambiance.

Everything from lighting and decor to table settings, music, candles, and bar setups matters. You want your home to feel inviting, yet thoughtfully curated and intentional.

A WELCOME GLASS TO SET THE VIBE

Nothing says "welcome" like a glass of sparkling wine.

It sets the tone for the evening, opens up conversation, and gives guests something to sip while everyone arrives and settles in.

HAVE A THEME

This is not a must, but I like to curate my wine selections by country.

As a sommelier, it's a great way to educate and introduce people to new wines. That said, you can absolutely do it your way.

White Wine Night. Italian Red Wine Night. All About the Bubbles. Planning a group trip to Spain? Spanish Wine Night it is.

The goal is to keep it fun and to host multiple Wine Wednesdays without ever feeling redundant.

CHARCUTERIE, ALWAYS

Nothing makes wine night feel complete like a beautiful charcuterie board.

And I'm not talking about a premade charcuterie tray from the grocery store. I mean choosing each meat, cheese, olive, fruit, and cracker so everything pairs perfectly with your wine selections.

It is also your chance to flex your hosting skills.

You can, of course, have other appetizers, but never skip the board.

HAVE FUN

When people think of wine, they often think of poise. But it's your house, and you can do whatever you want.
Talk. Laugh. Dance. Turn Up. Turn Down.

At the end of the day, it is your party and your people, so create a vibe that feels authentic to you.

XO,
Jess
